These mortgage-free homes not only help to remove the family's financial burden, they help to restore the individual's freedom, and enable the veteran to lead a more independent and productive civilian life. Building Homes for Heroes® is determined and devoted to bringing renewed hope to our nation’s injured veterans. It’s truly an honor to serve the men and women who have courageously served and sacrificed for our country. Each year since 2006, Building Homes for Heroes has increased its capabilities, but has done so with a strong focus on organizational efficiency. We strive to keep overhead costs down and have been very successful in achieving this goal. Our support from contractors, corporations, volunteers, and supporters, has enabled us to grow considerable since our inception.
Partnering with other organizations on projects is essential to our success. We will continue to seek out partnerships and relationships with organizations to build our brand and reputation. Building relationships with military organizations and military advocates eases the process of identifying and selecting qualified veterans for our programs. Will also continue to partner with more builders throughout the country. We will continue to build and strengthen relationships in these areas. This measure reflects the percent of its total expenses a charity spends on the programs and services it exists to deliver.
Building Homes for Heroes Celebrates 300 Homes!
Because the due date of their child was for the same day they were to move back to Germany, the move was pushed up by a few months. In 1995, New Jersey native, Jason Pepper, joined the United States Army. In December of the same year, Jason shipped off to Freidberg, Germany.

Upon realizing that the NFL was merely a pipe dream, he enlisted in the military. On Saturday May 21, Building Homes For Heroes hosted a charity event at The Inn in Long Beach. GuideStar worked with BoardSource, the national leader in nonprofit board leadership and governance, to create this section. Since 2006, Building Homes for Heroes has been at the forefront of making a significant difference in the lives of the severely wounded men and women of the military forces of the United States.
Part of our goal in rating the financial performance of charities is to help donors assess the financial capacity and sustainability of a charity. As do organizations in other sectors, charities must be mindful of their management of total liabilites in relation to their total assets. This ratio is an indicator of an organization’s solvency and or long term sustainability. Dividing a charity's total liabilities by its total assets yields this percentage. In 2020, we stepped in to help veterans with emergency funding during the Covid crisis. Audited financial statements provide important information about financial accountability and accuracy.

Most of all, we hope to inspire the country by bringing individuals, corporations, foundations and communities together to help our heroes. The Homes For Heroes Foundation was developed in response to the growing number of military Veterans who are facing crisis as they return to civilian life and find themselves on the path to homelessness. As many as 5,000 Veterans are homeless and living on the streets in Canada.
It is important for donors to have easy access to this financial report to help determine if the organization is managing its financial resources well. We currently rate charities on whether or not they publish their audit on their website. Building Homes for Heroes made a promise to never forget, and we continue our mission in dedication to all those who served and sacrificed. Together, we are making our communities and country a better place for all to see.
These guidelines foster good record keeping procedures that promotes data integrity. Here we are reporting on the existence of a policy as reported by the charity on its Form 990. If the charity does not have a Records Retention and Destruction Policy, then we deduct 4 points from its Accountability and Transparency score. This policy outlines procedures for handling employee complaints, as well as a confidential way for employees to report any financial mismanagement. Providing copies of the Form to the governing body in advance of filing is considered a best practice, as it allows for thorough review by the individuals charged with overseeing the organization. The Form 990 asks the charity to disclose whether or not it has followed this best practice.

BHH will continue to raise funds and awareness through fundraising activities, strategic partnerships, marketing, social media, etc. We will increase our efforts in the area of content marketing in an attempt to provide our existing and potential donors with a steady stream of information pertaining to the past, present, and future of BHH. Value-added marketing collateral will be both promotional and educational.
The organization builds or modifies homes, and gifts them, mortgage-free, to veterans and their families. These homes not only help to remove the family's financial burden, they help to restore the individual's freedom, and enable the veteran to lead a more independent and productive civilian life. It's our honor to support the men and women who have loyally and courageously served our country.
